Final Report from the Work Group
The Sleep and Start Times work group shared its final report with the Board during a special meeting on Monday, June 17.
Dr. Jeff Klein, assistant superintendent for academic services, with members of the work group, reported their findings about sleep research and the impacts of changing start times on student and family schedules.
They reported that more than 1,000 parents and approximately 400 staff took their survey, and they highlighted the survey results.
At the Board's regular meeting on Thursday, it will consider whether to move forward. If the Board does move forward, it would establish a committee and a process to address the bus driver shortage with a multi-tiered bus system, and the committee would then use this report from the Sleep and Start Times work group as it develops possible solutions.
