Board Approves New Start Times for 2020-2021

The Board approved new school start times, starting with the 2020-2021 school year, after a process that started in April.

The recommendation came from the Start Times Advisory Committee, which developed its plan using data about sleep research and family impacts from an earlier work group. The advisory committee came up with 32 different bus-route scenarios to address the bus driver shortage, and then it narrowed the list down to three. After listening to thousands of comments on the three ideas from the public, both online and in person, the committee chose its final recommendation.

The Board approved that recommendation, and then it voted to authorize Superintendent Dr. Jeanette Cowherd to make adjustments as necessary.
